The Feminist Bookstore Video and Yes Means Yes
That prankster Jessica Valenti, of Feministing, is back at it (in the aftermath of her book Full Frontal Feminism) with an essay collection in progress entitled Yes Means Yes. As sometimes happens, I’ve been busier writing comments than posting; you can read the ongoing discussion at tekanji’s Shrub Blog.
Hat tip to Truly Outrageous for a link to Carrie Brownstein’s hilarious performance in the Feminist Bookstore video, which, if you have any contact with New Age culture — and you know you do — you’re bound to enjoy.
Joseph, as I recall, I was, well, a little mean and dismissive toward you way back when at The Anti-Essentialist Conundrum, but I just want to say that I’ve really appreciated your comments on tekanji’s post on this subject. I no longer remember why I was so brusque, but you’re making a lot of sense to me now. So sorry about the early attitude, and thanks for your thoughts and insights. Peace.
Kai, what kind remarks. I’m honored, thank you. Blogging has a big learning curve; I think I understand better now how to participate in these conversations than I did back in the day.
Your point about institutional rape was terrific, and I look forward to reading more of your thoughts.
I just posted a comment on that thread, disagreeing with Kai’s remarks and suggesting some more productive ways the conversation might go. Just a heads-up.
